Sedbergh is an ancient market town with narrow streets and a 12th century church. There is a variety of little shops including a greengrocer, cake shop, spa supermarket, florist, antique shop, shops selling walking gear and a post office. There are also tea shops and restaurants and an Indian restaurant, fish and chip shop and Chinese takeaway. Sedbergh was designated “Book Town of England” in 2006 and boasts a number of bookshops and an annual Book Festival. Sedbergh is famous for its school dating back to 1525.

Sedbergh is surrounded by the Howgill hills and you can walk from the cottage. The area is a walkers’ paradise. Sedbergh is just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Lake District is reachable for a day trip by car.
